Online Journals

An online journal is a publication of a serial nature that makes use of digital distribution methods. In practice, this means that they are usually published on the Web. They are a specialized form of electronic document: they have the purpose of providing material for academic research and study, and they are formatted approximately like journal articles in traditional printed journals. Some electronic journals are online-only journals; some are online versions of printed journals, and some consist of the online equivalent of a printed journal, but with additional online-only (sometimes video and interactive media) material.

Ebooks

Ebooks are information products that are in soft copy (electronic) i.e. non-printed. They contain information just as books and have covers, pages, titles just as books. The only difference is that they are accessible via electronic means only – one needs a computer to read them.

E-Books are read online hence there is no waiting for shipment and in most cases they are cheaper than their 'hard copy' counterparts. Ebooks also offer the convenience of size and portability, you can store your own personal library of eBooks on your PC, Laptop or hand held device. They can be accessed from anywhere in the world, one can easily print and copy without visiting the library. You do not need to borrow the book it is always available for use. For libraries they save on space and allow multiple uses. Part-time and Open and Distance Learning Module students will find ebooks very helpful.
